Backer Rods
Closed cell polyethylene foam backing rods for use as a backer for elastomeric and other cold-applied sealants in expansion joint sealing to avoid three sided adhesion
Features & Benefits: - Quick and easy to apply. - Non-absorbent, repels moisture. - Reduces sealant usage. - Improved sealant performance due to correctly sized joints. - Avoids 3-way bonding. - Highly flexible. – won’t bubble and blister - Rot-proof; inert product. - Compressive and elastic. - Supports the sealant during curing and finishing. - Can be used internally or externally. - Compatible with Bond It silicones & sealants.
Uses: Backer rods are inserted into a joint as a back stop to control sealant depth, establishing the correct joint dimensions, allowing proper sealant tooling in construction and glazing use. They also act as bond-breakers without adhering to the sealant. Can be used for glazing installations, expansion joints, window and door perimeters, copings and pavement joints. The closed cellular polythene construction offers good insulation, and produces an effective thermal break, while also being particularly moisture resistant.
