THE TOOLBOX FIRST AID KIT

Developed in the USA, and endorsed by the American military,
Rescue Tape is the original and best self-fusing silicone repair tape.

Amazingly it contains no glue whatsoever: it is made from 100% silicone and it fuses to itself when stretched and wrapped around any object: the tighter you stretch it, the better the seal and, unlike electrical and duct tape, it won’t get gummy, it won’t dry out, even in the sun, and it leaves no residue when removed.

Rescue Tape will seal pipes made from copper, PVC plastic, steel, malleable iron, and many other materials. It will fix leaks in applications ranging from small domestic plumbing problems through to large scale industrial pipe repairs, avoiding costly and disruptive system shutdowns.

Water pipe repair is only the most obvious use though, Rescue Tape is also an essential part of your in-car tool kit: it can resist up to 8000V of electricity and withstand temperatures from -50 to +260 degrees Celsius, so emergency engine repair is a good reason to keep a roll handy. One customer had an issue with a leaking radiator pipe his Land Rover whilst in Europe: Rescue tape not only saved the day and got him moving again, the fix was so good that he left it in place until the next major service was due.

Application couldn't be simpler: wrap Rescue Tape around an item and overlap it by 50%, stretching it to at least double the length and going 3 to 5 inches on both sides of the leak. Remember, the tighter it’s wrapped the faster and stronger it will fuse. For high pressure leaks you may need to apply a second layer but the result will be water, fuel and air-tight. If you want to remove the tape simply cut it off - there will be no residue because this system uses no glue.

So it's great with plumbing, electrics and high pressure,
is Rescue Tape useful for anything else?

Yes it is. The only limitation to using Rescue Tape is your own imagination: use it to secure frayed rope ends, wrap it around outside taps and exposed metal features to provide weatherproofing, wrap it around the handles of tools to make a comfortable gripping surface. The potential applications are endless.

Rescue Tape is used on oil rigs to protect iron and steel pipes and connectors from the harsh weather conditions out at sea. It is salt water resistant and so provides an effective barrier to conditions which otherwise would corrode and damage metal fixings.

That means, of course, that Rescue Tape is the ideal emergency repair tool for yachts, barges and pleasure craft of all kinds where rigging, pipework, small moving parts and exposed metals may need extra protection from the elements.

And is it really specified by the US military?

Yes, in fact silicone Tape was initially used by the US Military and then, after making significant improvements, we branded it and made it available for worldwide sales. Rescue Tape is certified to meet USA military spec CID A-A-59163 and is the only brand of silicone tape actively used by the US military in Recovery and Battle Damage Assessment & Repair Kit (BDAR KIT).

Stock it in your toolbox, you'll be glad you did.
