The challenge

An existing flat roof on a commercial building in Sacramento had previously been finished with a tar and gravel system. The roof also featured multiple ventilation ducts and vertical perimeter upstands, creating numerous detailing points that needed to be sealed effectively.

The client required a waterproof re-cover solution that could be completed quickly, without introducing complex detailing systems or extended downtime.

Why Bond It

Seal It Liquid Membrane was selected as it can be applied seamlessly over prepared substrates and self-levels around penetrations and upstands, eliminating the need for additional trims or profiles.

Its ability to form a continuous, joint-free membrane made it well suited to a roof with multiple protrusions and detailing challenges.

Application on site

Due to the tar-based substrate, a primer was applied first to ensure full adhesion.

Seal It Liquid Membrane White was then applied at a 1mm thickness to completely cover the 1,500 sq ft roof area. The material self-levelled around ventilation units and perimeter details, creating a continuous waterproof surface without seams.

The full application was completed in one day.
